This Mama’s Quick Allergy Relief Remedies

As moms, we’re pretty resilient, but the tone is set for our long days chasing after our kids by how we feel. Allergies, as silly as it may sound, can often frustrate, and debilitate, us and our mood. As a mom, I don’t want to miss a moment with my kids and I definitely don’t want to have to check out for the afternoon over a high pollen count and irritated eyes. I’ve put together my go-to, short but effective list of natural and homeopathic allergy relief remedies that have helped to reduce my symptoms from outdoor and indoor allergies so I can get back to what really matters.

  1. Herbs and spices: Butterbur, rosemary, garlic, turmeric, and stinging nettle leaf offers anti-inflammatory responses as well as inhibit allergic responses to help alleviate those pesky allergy symptoms. They can be taken in a tea, as is, or mixed in food. There are a lot of great herbal teas available that help as well, including peppermint tea, lemon tea, green tea, and teas containing ginger.
  2. Nasal Irrigation System or Saline Nasal Rinse: Using filtered, distilled, sterile, or boiled water with a nasal irrigation system can help to cleanse the sinuses and clear out the irritants or give a temporary relief from stuffiness. Finding one that is as comfortable as possible for you is important. It’s kind of gross to see what that rinse is capable of getting rid of, so be prepared.
  3. A Warm/Hot Shower: Sometimes taking a shower to rinse off allergens that may have come into contact with our skin and also being able to breath in the shower steam can help alleviate symptoms and give a feeling of freshness. Now, this only works if you’re able to get a good 20-30 minutes alone sans kids and we all know how difficult that can be at times.
  4. TRP Day & Night Relief Pack: The Relief Products™ Allergy Eyes Relief® Day & Night Relief Pack offers a homeopathic day time eye drop regiment with a homeopathic nighttime ointment. Also, as the winner of a Woman’s Choice Award, I trust this product and it is one of my favorite allergy relief options for allowing me to put my distracting allergies aside and regain my focus on my kids. With all natural ingredients, it helps to relieve eye itchiness, swelling, burning, excessive watering and sleeplessness. Easy to use and reduces acute and chronic indoor and outdoor allergies.
  5. Air Purifying System/Filter Change: Sometimes it can be as simple as a good house cleaning! If you have carpets or rugs, I recommend getting them steam cleaned at least every 3 months, or more often if you have pets. Also, change out the a/c filter as often as every 3 weeks and if possible, grab a room air purifier. Air purifiers can become pricey but they’re worth the investment and can truly help with those indoor allergy flair ups.

Trying natural allergy relief remedies, one at a time, is the best approach to finding out what works for you. It’s time we stop allowing ourselves to be miserable on such beautiful days out with our families and start taking in deep breaths of fresh air and opening our allergy relieved eyes to the beautiful sights of our kids playing.
