In a 2018 report by the American Heart Association, the organization measures the cardiovascular health of the nation by 7 key factors, referred to as “Life’s Simple 7”. These factors are: non-smoking, physical activity, healthy diet, body weight, cholesterol control, blood pressure and blood sugar.
Monitoring these health factors can reduce the risks for cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Women’s Choice Awards reviews the overall performance of hospitals in terms of the death rates for stroke patients. Only hospitals that have the lowest mortality rates are considered for the Women’s Choice Award.
