Clear the Clutter and Simplify Your Move

Clear the Clutter and Simplify Your Move

As a Women’s Choice Award most recommended moving company, Allied understands that women are the key moving-decision-makers in their homes, and that there is nothing more chaotic than the organization and planning that goes into getting your home ready for a move. Decluttering is one of the many tasks that needs to be tackled before moving day. Removing unwanted belongings from your home simplifies your move and allows you to have a cleaner, fresher start in your new space. Through Allied’s exclusive partnership with The Salvation Army, you can schedule a free pickup of your unwanted things, so you can focus on actually preparing for your move. Clearing your clutter not only serves you, but it has the ability to help change someone’s life forever. Your donations to Salvation Army Stores are funding rehabilitation programs that heal addictions, change lives, and restore families. There are two options for scheduling:
  • Either schedule a donation pickup online at http://www.satruck.org
  • Call 1-800-1-800-SA-TRUCK (1-800-728-7825).
When scheduling an online pickup, record what items will be donated, choose a date of pickup, and provide your personal information and location. Your generosity will help someone have a second chance in life. Use the Donation Value Guide to help determine the approximate tax-deductible value of items commonly donated to The Salvation Army Family Thrift Stores: http://satruck.org/donation-value-guide. As Allied says, “lighten your load while lighting up someone else’s life.” In addition to decluttering, you can simplify your move by adhering to the following tips from www.Allied.com:
  • Clearly mark and set aside items you don’t want loaded.
  • Have kids pack a ‘special box’ for themselves so that it’s unloaded first.
  • Find out as many details as possible from the driver, before they leave your residence. Confirm timeline for delivery and ensure that you have each other’s phone numbers.
And don’t forget to check out Allied’s Guide to packing for each room so you have the best plan of action for packing everything from your fine china to your bedroom pillows.
